Oliver manages the auction cataloging process from start to finish. He is always on hand at Amati viewing days to help our buyers with any questions about buying musical instruments through auction.
He first became interested in stringed instruments and their construction when he bought an unlabeled violin at auction and started to research its origins. Although he is a trumpet player, and played in the National Children’s Orchestra as a child, Oliver transferred his affections to the string world. He completed a BSc in stringed instrument making and repair with London Metropolitan University. He then dealt in and repaired violins for two years before joining Amati.
In his spare time, Oliver still takes on guitar commissions and repair work, plays snooker and makes bizarre motorised contraptions, sometimes with jet engines.
