Belgian maker in Montreal, making fine violin, viola & cello.
After my training at the Cremona Violin Making School and various professional experiences, I worked with Isabelle Wilbaux for several years in her Montreal workshop. Since then, I set up my own workshop where I focus on building quartet instruments. My studies in Italy, as well as the many encounters I have had with colleagues since, have enabled me to develop my manual skills, my ideas and especially my curiosity. It is indeed essential for me to go back to the origins of violin making and to study the art of the first Italian masters. Their models, build, material, varnishes and tones feed my inspiration. I like my instruments to show traces of the work process. I use frank but precise gestures that give my instruments personality. As I am myself a musician, I pay close attention to playing comfort. I like to find the deeply authentic sound of each instrument, enabling the musician and the instrument to commune.
