Filippo Protani is an Italian violin maker based in Perugia, Umbria. After graduating from the Newark School of Violin Making in 2007, he spent three years as a maker at the well-known Roger Hansell workshop, North Yorkshire, where he focused on instrument copies and tonal reproduction. In September 2010 he moved back to Italy, where he set his workshop in Corciano, Perugia. In 2011 his Bergonzi model won the third prize at the Pisogne making competition, in northern Italy, for the antiqued instrument category.
