Maker of violins, violas & cellos, for the discerning musician.
Training: I have been making stringed instruments for nearly 20 years, specialising in instruments of the violin family for the past 13 years. I studied violin making under Shem Mackey at London's Metropolitan University and then went on to study at Newark School of Violin Making in Nottinghamshire, England. I am now based in Scotland, working for myself making violins and violas and also collaborating with my wife, Marion Bennardo, in making cellos. Instruments: From my workshop, nestled in the spectacular scenery surrounding Loch Lomond, I aim to create instruments that both look and sound beautiful, to meet the high expectations of discerning musicians, and with the hope of inspiring beautiful music. My work is of course hugely influenced by the classical Italian school but also very much by my contemporaries as our craft has never before seen such worldwide high standards. I make both new looking and antique finish instruments in a variety of models to suit different individuals needs. I am always happy to discuss a player's requirements, from varnish colour to tone colour, and will happily undertake the challenge of making you your ideal instrument.
