WALTER, Alfred Born 1898 München Gladbach, d. after 1945 Krefeld Germany. Son of a concert master and music shop owner in München Gladbach. Apprenticed at Markneukirchen 1912-1915. Worked for Züst in Zurich and Sprenger in St Gallen, Switzerland, before returning to München Gladbach. On the death of his father in 1921, he succeeded to the music shop business and added a violin workshop. National Service from 1942 ended as an Allied prisoner of war, and the shop was lost. Re-established in Krefeld, he continued as a violin maker and repairer of good repute. [Vannes]
