WAKE, Harry Sebastian Born 1900 Newcastle-on-Tyne UK, Worked from 1952 San Diego, California USA. Trained in England. Moved to the USA 1921. Worked as an engineer and a cellist in New York, and from 1926 in Philadelphia. Finally settled in San Diego 1952. Over 100 instruments completed, mostly on Stradivari model; a few on Guarneri patterns. Own red-brown oil varnish. Author of The Technique of Violin Making, A Luthier’s Scrapbook, Violin Bow Rehair and Repair, Amateur Fiddle Maker’s Questions and Answers, Viola Making and Plans, Strad Model Cello Plans, and To Make a Double Bass.
