VLKOVÁ, Venceslava Marie Born 1889 Novych Benátkách Czech Republic, died 1970 Cologne Germany. Moved to Cologne in 1924 to stay with her sister and brother-in-law L. Herclik, from whom she learned violin making. Worked independently from 1929 in Ceské Budejovice, where most of her new instruments were made, but in 1936 moved back to Cologne to take care of her ailing sister. Continued to carry out repairs for the Herclik workshop, but made little new work. Her instruments are of adequate professional quality, made on classical Stradivari-derived models.
