VALDRIGHI, Luigi Francesco Born 1827, died 1899 Modena Italy. Not a violin maker but the compiler of the first universal dictionary of violin makers. His work Nomocheliurgografia Antica e Moderna (Modena, 1884; Bologna, 1967) set the template for subsequent compilers: Lütgendorff, Vannes, Henley et al, and provided much of the first-hand research on which most current work has been built.
