TOENNIGES, Paul S. Born 1980 De Kalb, Illinois USA. Employed by William Lewis in Chicago 1926-1940, working under Carl Becker and Emil Carlson. After World War II worked for Rudolph Wurlitzer in Los Angeles 1946-1950. Established independently in Studio City, California 1950. About 20 violins and 45 double basses made and labelled by himself. Many others completed in collaboration with Carl Becker. Own golden-brown varnish. [Wenberg]
