THOMPSON, Edward Fernleigh Maurice Born 1892 Plymouth UK, d. after 1960 Howick New Zealand Trained in Exeter as an organ builder from 1907. Pupil of A. Dixon in Dover. Worked as a repairer for the Band of the Royal Marines until 1932. Established in Worthing and from 1953 in Cornwall. Emigrating to Howick, New Zealand 1957. Chiefly occupied with repair work, but credited with eight violins on Guarneri model with dark orange-brown varnish. Exhibited at the Hague 1949. Made by E. F. M. Thompson / Worthing. Sx. / 1960 (?)
