SVITRA, Julius Born 1888 Lithuania, d. after 1926 Chicago, Illinois USA. Trained at the Mittenwald School of Violin Making 1904-1906. Emigrated to the USA 1906. Established in Newark, New Jersey 1912 and subsequently in Chicago 1924. Repairer and maker; first violin completed 1912. Over 100 instruments made, initially on Stradivari and Guarneri models.
