STEGER, Johannes Eberhardt b. Füssen Germany, Worked circa. 1684 Bolzano (Bozen) Italy. According to his label, a pupil of M. Albani in Bolzano. Interesting work. Germanic in style but with a rich, soft red varnish similar to that of Albani’s best work. Amatisé model with short narrow corners, high arch, and sloping soundholes of original and elegant form.
