STANLEY, Freelan Oscar Born 1849 Kingfield, Maine, died 1940 Colorado USA. Engineer and designer. Developed photography processes for Kodak and built his own historically significant ‘Stanley Steamer’ steam powered car 1906. Highly proficient amateur violin maker with distinctive Stradivari-derived personal model. Narrow widely-spaced soundholes with Guadagnini-like oval finials. Low arch with deeply sunk edge flute.
