STAM, Otto Born 1913 Tilburg, died 1983 Utrecht Netherlands Pupil of E. Uebel and others in Amsterdam. Established independently in Utrecht 1936. Medals awarded at Pegli 1956 and Ascoli Piceno 1959. Credited with 128 instruments, about half of which were violas. Personal Guarneri-derived model with fine soft golden-orange or dark red varnish. Assisted and succeeded by his son Serge.
