SMITH, Jules Worked circa. 1888-1930 Chicago & Evansville USA. Born in England. Emigrated to the USA and worked in Chicago with S. Lawanski. Later studied at the Bretch School of Violin Making 1914. Established in Evansville, Indiana c.1924-1930. The 1704 Stradivari ‘Betts’ violin taken as model. Good workmanship and soft brown or red varnish.
