SEELOS, Johann George (II) Born 1654, Worked Salzburg, died 1715 Linz Austria. Son and pupil of Georg Seelos (I), above. Said to have worked in Salzburg and from 1679 in Linz. Chiefly a maker of lutes and viols, but some violins credited to him. These are on a Stainer-derived model; generally small with medium arch and dark brown varnish. Typically Germanic work without particular distinction. Viols, lutes, and barytons in the museums of Paris, Linz, and Klagenfurt.
