ROWINSKI, Stanislav Born 1858 Bydgoszcz Poland, Worked circa. 1882-1922 London UK. Violin and bow maker. Pupil of Kotinski in Bydgoszcz from 1876. Moved to London 1882. Established in Fitzroy Square and from 1902 in Chiswick High Road. Made for the trade. Few instruments known with his own label. Some violins on narrow model with pinched arch and dark yellow varnish; others more orthodox with red-brown varnish. Bows of medium quality, branded according to the original model used. Also managed a string-making factory in Italy which produced his own ‘Aliquot’ brand. Retired from making in 1922. Violins branded on back button: ‘Rowinski London W’. Printed label: Patentee Brevete / Master 1920
