RIVES, Harry Dale Born 1891 Hancock County, Indiana, Worked Rockford, Illinois USA. Pupil of Charles Conger and active violin maker from 1921. Employed by Ogren Music in Rockford, Illinois from 1922. Stradivari and Guarneri models, also followed Max Möckel’s ‘Sectio Aurea’ designs. Own varnish of linseed oil gum and Italian beeswax, which he sold commercially, although with age it has become dry and brittle. Harry D.
