PILAT, Paul Ernst (Paul II) Born 1897 Budapest Hungary died 1961 Los Angeles USA. Son and pupil of Paul Pilat (I), above. Emigrated to the USA 1921. Employed by Frederick Markert in New York. Established independently in New York 1932, moving to Los Angeles 1952. Personal models. Later made close copies of master instruments, including several Gasparo da Salò violas.
