ORSELLI, Enrico Born 1891 Ferrara, died 1955 Pesaro Italy. Pupil and assistant of Soffritti. Established independently in Pesaro from 1924. Credited with 200 violins, 200 violas, 80 cellos, and eight double-basses, many carrying the label of Soffritti; also some with apparently anachronistic dates. Stradivari and Guarneri models; others based on Guadagnini and Testore. Very fine golden-yellow varnish on reddish base.
