MUSCHIETTI, Umberto Born 1875 Portogruaro, Venice, died 1953 Udine Italy. Double bass player and maker. 160 violins, 18 violas, eight cellos, and two double basses credited to him. One bass, a replica of his own five-string Santagiuliana instrument, now in the Museo Stradivariano, Cremona. Medals awarded at Fiume, Rome, Padua, and Florence. Signed internally: ‘Umberto Muschietti’
