MILES, George died 1912 Erith, Kent UK. Self-taught maker. Early work on Stainer model; eccentric and poorly accomplished. Later developed a more satisfactory Stradivari pattern, using his own red-brown varnish. Several of these finished and sold after his death by Dykes & Son. George Miles / Amator Fecit 1892 No. 3 George Miles / Erith 1899
