MENSLAGEN, Gerrit Born circa. 1606 Essen Germany, died 1661 Amsterdam Netherlands. Brother-in-law of Jan Boumeester. Active in Amsterdam from 1638. Recorded as a cittern maker but according to Balfoort, 70 unfinished violins appear in the inventory of his workshop after his death. No work presently identified. [NGV]
