KRESNIK, Francesco Born 1869 Vienna Austria, died 1943 Rijeka (Fiume) Croatia Doctor and amateur violinist, active in Rijeka from 1878. Author of How to obtain powerful yet sweet tone. Researched into varnish and materials and had instruments made to his directions on Stradivari and Guarneri models with red varnish. Much of the workshop destroyed in the war (1943). Surviving examples in the Rijeka Museum and Belgrade Academy. Teacher of C. Schiavi. Franciscus Kresnik fecit / Fiume anno 1940
