HOWE, Arthur W. Born 1878 Union, died 1952 Endicott , New York USA. Self-taught maker, with some assistance from Sewell Boyce from 1897. Active in Union, New York c.1939, before moving to Endicott. Stradivari and other classical models; oil varnish; fine work. Henley credits him with 50 violins by 1940. Wenberg gives ‘about 20 violins’ in total.
