DOBRIANSKI, L. Born 1865 Odessa Ukraine Chiefly a repairer and restorer. Given responsibility for the royal collection at St. Petersburg, and, after the Communist revolution, the State Museum, Moscow. Also worked on the collection of Ludwig Ferdinand, Prince of Bavaria. Made a number copies of particular classical instruments; some are said to have been passed off subsequently in Russia as original Stradivari instruments. Also devised a personal model following lira da braccio forms, lacking upper corners.
