CORAIN, (CORRAIN) Vincenzo Born 1795, died 1866 Trieste Italy. Violin maker and bassoonist at the Teatro Grande, Trieste. Violins and double basses with distinctive scroll, the fluting sunk to a deep ‘V’ shape at the centre line, which is not raised to the level of the edges as is usual. The throat is generally very short also. Follows many other vagaries of the late Venetian school, with extra purfling strips and poorly governed outline and corners. Vinc. Corani / Triest 1826 [Pio]
