A maker in Paris about 1777-91, first at 9, rue de Braque, then in the rue de Berry. An instrument of his is dated 1783, with his name; two valuable violins are also known, in an excellent state of preservation. He sometimes made instruments in association with S. Renault, labels dated 1781 and 1791 having their names, " Renault et Chatelain."
