Sohn von Domenico C. und Teresa geb. Merli. Geschickter Streichinstrumentenmacher und nicht minder tüchtiger Glockengiesser. Als Sohn eines Tischlers, der als Dilettant auch Musikinstrumente machte, kam er zuerst darauf, sich im Geigenbau zu versuchen, und ohne einen anderen Lehrer gehabt zu haben, brachte er es zu einer grossen Fertigkeit sowohl im Neubau als in der Reparatur. Er besitzt mehrere Medaillen und ist Lieferant der Conservatorien in Parma und Bologna. Medaille 1901. Vgl. A. G. Spinelli, Giov. Cavani.
